Many cars are fitting Pirelli tyres and the new Volvo V90 is joining the team. This brilliant model has powerful engines equipping even the entry level configurations. For instance, the less powerful engine of the entire line-up is a 2-litre, four-cylinder D4 diesel delivering 190 hp (the D3 delivering 150 hp will be launched next year). This indicates the need for efficient tyres for high control. So Volvo opted for the P Zero, the same model fitted on leading supercars worldwide.

With the P Zero, the new V90 can achieve top-notch results which are even more considerable considering that this is a station wagon, a body type which is not exactly famous for scorching racing performance. Even so, the D5, a 2-litre diesel delivering 235 hp of power and 480 Nm of torque, ranked as the most powerful diesel engine of all providing excellent results from the word go. It clocks a top speed of 240 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds. The Pirelli P Zero naturally play a key role in achieving results like these without forgoing safety, that is enhanced by the tread pattern and the compound of the manufacturer's premium product.

The petrol and diesel engine line-up of the Volvo V90 will soon be complemented by the four-wheel drive hybrid T8 Twin Engine version of the luxury station wagon. By adding the electrical power to the petrol engine, the results in terms of performance and more are enhanced even further. It can output a peak power of 407 hp and a torque of no less than 640 Nm and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, for instance, in just 5.2 seconds. Even so, harmful CO2 emissions are down to just 44 grams per kilometre. This result is naturally enhanced by the Pirelli premium product which is fundamental to obtain this fuel-efficiency and performance in real, everyday driving conditions.

Finally, the effect that the P Zero tyres have on the safety of the Volvo V90 is worth mentioning. The Swedish station wagon fits Pilot Assist, a system which can be activated to speeds up to 130 km/h. It combines various safety systems, such as adaptive cruise control and emergency braking, allowing the car to nearly drive itself. Naturally, also in this case, being able to rely on efficient, high-performance tyres for high control is fundamental.
